Born in Oakville, Ontario, Gavin Maxwell gravitated towards the Burloak Canoe Club as a teenager and discovered the sport of paddling. He joined the Canadian National Canoe Team in 1989, and went on to train and compete all over the world.
Some of his career highlights include:
Four World Championship competitions and two bronze medals at the 1991 Pan American Games in Cuba.
The pinnacle was when he represented Canada at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
Gavin is also a four-time world dragon boat champion, and he continues to coach a competitive dragon boat team in the Toronto area. A natural athlete from the get-go, Gavin’s education thoroughly complements his sports experience.
He obtained a Bachelor in Kinesiology at McMaster University in Hamilton and a Doctorate of Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. He also studied contemporary Acupuncture at McMaster University, is a certified Active Release Technique provider and an NSCA Certified Personal Trainer. Whether he’s treating an Olympic athlete, a mom or an executive, Gavin encourages his clients to become active partners with their doctors in setting and meeting healthier lifestyle and treatment goals and improving musculoskeletal functioning of the body.
